I love the eclectic mix of frames and artifacts on the wall. This is the kind of wall that you get lost in for a good couple minutes until a friend walks in the room and tells you one of the stories behind one of the pieces.

Thank you, Jules Chéret. I owe you one.
Peelable packaging!
In high school, my friend’s family had a moon calendar in their kitchen. I was always so fascinated by it. One day while eating Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups I had the idea, “I should make a moon calendar out of these!” …and I began munching away and scanning them. The project was messy (and delicious) and I ended up making the shapes in a design program to achieve the exact shapes required. I always intended to go back and complete the project the real way/right way. There would be crumbles all over the calendar as well. Maybe the next rainy day…
A color scheme can come from anywhere. Forget fanning trough hundreds of color chips on a paint wand, wondering „Do I like this or that?“ It is confusing and much too analytical. Instead, look at the ocean or a grove of trees. I have started with a chip of cerulean blue paint from the hallway of the Quisisana hotel in Capri, a fragment of silk from Thailand, a scrap of paper found on a street in NY. It will always be something that sets off a strong emotional reaction, something that pulls me in. Absorb everything in your environment. Put yourself in places that open up your senses. Creativity comes from a place deep inside you. Follow your instincts, and you will find what you need.
